Privacy Policy

Effective date: 6 October 2026 · Last updated: 6 October 2026

In short: this website has no accounts, forms, cookies of its own, analytics or ads. Culture Quickies uses the TikTok, YouTube, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and X APIs from its own server, for one purpose: posting its own videos to its own accounts. Nobody else signs in to the tool, and it does not collect data about the people who watch, like or comment on the videos. Those interactions happen on each platform under that platform’s privacy policy.

1. Who we are

Culture Quickies (“Culture Quickies”, “we”, “us”) makes short-form videos about European art, history and culture. We are based in Portugal and are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

This policy covers the website at culturequickies.art and the Culture Quickies publishing tool, a private server-side application that posts our videos to our own accounts on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and X.

2. Visiting this website

This is a static information website. It has no user accounts, sign-up, contact forms, comments, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, social media embeds or third-party scripts.

When you visit, the following technical information is processed automatically so the pages can be delivered and protected:

  • your IP address
  • the date and time of the request
  • the page or file requested and the response status
  • your browser’s user-agent string and the referring page, if your browser sends one

Our network provider, Cloudflare, processes this information to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. Our web server also writes it to access logs, which are kept for up to 14 days and then deleted automatically. We use this information only to operate, secure and troubleshoot the website. We do not use it to identify or profile visitors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Our publishing tool and connected platforms

Culture Quickies runs a back-end application on its own server that uploads and publishes our videos, captions and related post details to our accounts on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and X through each platform’s official API.

Who uses it

Only the Culture Quickies operator. The tool has no public interface. Members of the public cannot sign in to it or connect their accounts, and it is not offered to other creators.

What data it handles

  • Authorisation credentials (OAuth access and refresh tokens) for the Culture Quickies accounts, issued by each platform when we connect our account.
  • Basic profile information about our own accounts, such as account ID, display name and profile image, used to confirm which account is connected.
  • The content we publish, such as video files, titles, captions and hashtags, and the post identifiers and publishing status the platforms return.

What it does not do

The tool does not use platform APIs to collect, read, store or analyse personal data about anyone other than Culture Quickies. That means no followers, viewers, commenters or message senders. It does not read direct messages, build audience profiles, or sell or share platform data. We request only the permissions needed to publish content and identify our own connected accounts.

How the data is used and stored

Credentials and post records are stored on our own server, with access limited to the operator. They are used only to publish and manage Culture Quickies posts. Credentials are deleted when an account is disconnected or access is revoked, and post records are kept only as long as needed to manage our published content.

4. Platform-specific information

Each platform processes data under its own privacy policy. The connection between the publishing tool and our accounts can be revoked at any time from each platform’s settings.

TikTok

Used to upload and publish videos to the Culture Quickies TikTok account. See the TikTok Privacy Policy. Access can be removed in the TikTok app under Settings and privacy → Security → Manage app permissions.

YouTube (Google)

Used to upload and publish videos to the Culture Quickies YouTube channel through the YouTube API Services. See the Google Privacy Policy. Access can be revoked on the Google security settings page.

Facebook and Instagram (Meta)

Used to publish videos to the Culture Quickies Facebook Page and Instagram professional account. See the Meta Privacy Policy. Access can be removed in Facebook under Settings → Apps and websites. For deletion requests, see our data deletion instructions.

X

Used to post videos to the Culture Quickies X account. See the X Privacy Policy. Access can be revoked in X under Settings → Security and account access → Apps and sessions → Connected apps.

Google API Services

Culture Quickies’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. By using YouTube features that our content is published through, you are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service.

5. Watching our videos on social platforms

When you watch, like, comment on, share or follow Culture Quickies on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or X, that activity happens on the platform and is processed by the platform under its own terms and privacy policy. Culture Quickies does not receive it through the publishing tool.

As account holders, we can see public information such as comments and usernames in each platform’s own app, the same as any other user. We may also view the aggregated statistics platforms give to all account holders. We use this only to reply to comments, moderate our posts and understand which videos people enjoy. We do not export it into our own systems.

6. Contacting us

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. Our email is provided by Google (Gmail). We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your message, unless we need it longer to comply with the law. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

7. Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising. Personal data is shared only with:

  • Cloudflare, Inc.: network delivery and security for this website
  • Google LLC: email (Gmail)
  • TikTok, Google/YouTube, Meta and X: they receive the content we choose to publish to our own accounts
  • Public authorities, where we are legally required to disclose information

8. International transfers

Our web server is operated in Portugal. Cloudflare, Google and the social platforms may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where they do, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, as described in each provider’s own terms.

9. Cookies

This website does not set cookies and does not use local storage, analytics or tracking technologies. In some circumstances Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (such as __cf_bm) to distinguish people from automated traffic. This cookie is not used for tracking or advertising.

10. Security and retention

The site is served only over HTTPS. Our server is not directly exposed to the internet; traffic reaches it through an encrypted Cloudflare tunnel. Platform credentials are stored on that server and are not shared. Retention periods are given in the sections above. In summary: web server logs are kept for up to 14 days, platform credentials until an account is disconnected, and email for as long as needed to handle your enquiry.

11. Children

This website does not collect personal data from visitors beyond the technical information described above, and it is not designed to collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • have inaccurate data corrected
  • have your data erased
  • restrict or object to our processing
  • receive your data in a portable format, where applicable

To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), or with the supervisory authority in your own EU country.

For data held by TikTok, YouTube, Meta or X about your own account or activity, contact that platform directly. We cannot access or delete it on your behalf.

13. Changes to this policy

If our practices change, for example if we connect new services, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
